Issues addressed

The Military Tools for ArcGIS 3.2 release fixes the issues below.

Coordinate Conversion

Issues addressed for Coordinate Conversion are described in the following table.

BugDescription

When choosing to export a list to KMZ a user cannot switch to another file type until the next session

Entering a coordinate in the input box with no map in the project causes a crash

Support Dark Theme within the Ambiguous Coordinate dialog

Pasting a list that has an empty row results in the coordinate prior to the empty row being duplicated

Distance and Direction

Issues addressed for Distance and Direction are described in the following table.

BugDescription

Exporting to KMZ leaves lockfile in folder preventing next KMZ export in folder

Military Symbol Editor

Issues addressed for the Military Symbol Editor are described in the following table.

BugDescription

After removing the military symbology schema from the TOC there is no way to interact with MSE again within that project

Selection button does not follow dark theme

Forward and back buttons are not in line with ArcGIS Pro's dark theme

The About and Setting menu do not follow the dark theme

Visibility

Issues addressed for Visibility are described in the following table.

Known issues

Known limitations of Military Tools for ArcGIS are listed below.

ArcGIS Pro

Coordinate Conversion

  • An output MGRS or USNG coordinate is not provided in the polar regions.

Distance and Direction

  • ArcGIS Pro becomes unresponsive after adding multiple line input points in quick succession.
  • Distance unit in feature tables is not based on resource value.
  • New feature dataset is added to the default geodatabase if the layers are not present in the table of contents.
  • Range ring radials distorted when they pass near the poles.
  • The Delete key on the Line, Ellipse, and Ring tabs removes all zeros if the leading nonzero digit is deleted.

Military Tools toolbox

  • GRG From Point tool only works in the WGS 1984 Web Mercator (auxiliary sphere) projection.

Military Symbol Editor

  • When creating feature templates using the Military Symbol Editor addin the proper symbol name is not used.
  • Modify tab is not working working with cleared labels
  • Unable to change the Entity field for an exisiting symbol

Visibility

  • No known issues.

ArcMap

Coordinate Conversion

  • An output MGRS or USNG coordinate is not provided in the polar regions.
  • The diaeresis and double acute accent symbol for seconds mark are not supported.

Distance and Direction

  • Distance and Direction Ring and Ellipse tool incorrectly labels the distance between rings at certain zoom scales.
  • The Delete key on the Line, Ellipse, and Ring tabs removes all zeros if the leading nonzero digit is deleted.
  • ConstructGeodesicCircle / ConstructGeodesicEllipse fails to return for some projections when you click outside the map extent.
  • Add-in holds on to previous coordinate system after changing the data frame coordinate system.
  • Exported KMZ symbology does not match the source symbology.
  • Ellipse tab does not validate that the major axis is larger than the minor axis, resulting in incorrectly labeled ellipses.
  • Circle tool tells the user inputs are not valid when using keyboard input, if the resulting circle will cross the International Date Line.
  • Preview circle disappears beyond a certain size despite there apparently still being room for expansion

Military Tools toolbox

  • No known issues.

Visibility

  • Changing the data frame after receiving a message that data must be projected causes the results to not be shown upon running.
