Overview

Briefing Book is a configuration of ArcGIS and a JavaScript application that allows users to view and create map-based briefings and reports with interactive content.

This application can be deployed by local, state, and national governments; utilities, NGOs, as well as private industries; to create and deliver dynamic and interactive briefings and reports for executives, decision-makers, knowledge-workers, and constituents.

The Briefing Book can be used to create new briefings and reports that include ArcGIS maps, videos, photos, and written text. The briefings and reports are stored in your ArcGIS Online organization or Portal for ArcGIS site and can be shared with members of your organization or the general public. The Briefing Book presents briefings and reports you author on a single bookshelf optimized for tablet devices.

Briefing Book requires specific technical experience and software. Minimum system requirements for the ArcGIS Platform can be found on the Support website.

The maps consumed by this application can be deployed using ArcGIS Online or Portal for ArcGIS, but the Briefing Book application must be deployed on a web server running Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS).

  • Resolved a bug that caused briefing books to be created with incorrect URLs when Enterprise Logins were used (BUG-000083161).

  • Resolved a bug that caused Briefing Books to become corrupted if the Briefing Book item was edited within ArcGIS Online for organizations or Portal for ArcGIS.
  • Resolved a bug that caused Briefing Books to create items without all the required item parameters within ArcGIS Online for organizations or Portal for ArcGIS.
  • Resolved a bug that caused non-web Mercator ArcGIS Online maps to fail loading.
  • Resolved a bug that caused the application to fail when non-Briefing Book items were tagged with a defined search tag.
  • Resolved a bug that affected how images are displayed on iPad and other tablet devices.
