Publish gas utility network services

Once you've completed the required post processing steps, you can publish your utility network services. Once published, these services can be shared with your organization to edit, analyze, and view the gas network across your organization.

Repair the utility network maps

  1. In ArcGIS Pro, open the Gas Utility Network project.
  2. On the View tab, in the Windows group, click Catalog Pane Catalog Pane.
  3. In the Catalog pane, on the Project tab, expand the Maps drop-down arrow to view the maps included with the project. Double-click Gas Utility Network to open the map.

    When the map opens, the data sources of the layers will be broken. Before continuing, ensure that your database is branch versioned.

  4. In the Contents pane, click Repair Repair Broken Data Source next to the utility network layer on the map.

    The Change Data Source dialog box appears.

  5. Browse to the utility network layer in your enterprise database and click OK to repair the broken links in the map.

  6. If you modified the asset groups of the utility network from the Esri-provided asset package, update the layer in the map to include the new asset group.
  7. Click OK to save your changes and close the Layer Properties dialog box.
  8. Open the Gas Simple Network. Expand the layers in the Contents pane and follow the steps to repair the broken data sources.
  9. Save the project.

Update the spatial reference of the maps

If the asset package spatial reference has changed, the map needs to be updated as well. Complete the following steps to update the map before publishing.

  1. Browse to the Gas Utility Network map.
  2. In the Contents pane, right-click the Gas Utility Network map and click Properties.
  3. On the Map Properties dialog box, click the Coordinate Systems tab.
  4. Click the button below the Current XY heading and navigate to the horizontal coordinate system.
  5. Click the button below the Current Z heading and update the vertical coordinate system.

  6. Click OK to apply the coordinate system changes.
  7. Browse to the Gas Simple Network map and repeat steps 2 through 6 to update the maps coordinate system.

Publish the feature service

Now that you've updated the Gas Utility Network map, you're ready to publish the Gas Utility Network feature service.

To publish the feature service, complete the following steps:

  1. Browse to the Gas Utility Network map.
  2. On the Share tab, in the Share As group, click Web Layer Publish Web Layer.

    The Share As Web Layer pane appears.

  3. In the Share As Web Layer pane, update the sharing properties on the General tab. Specifically, update Layer Type to Feature and update Sharing Options to share with your ArcGIS Enterprise organization.
  4. On the Configuration tab, in the Share As Web Layer pane, under Capabilities, check the Version Management check box to enable this capability.

  5. Click Configure web layer properties List By Editing next to the feature layer to open Feature Properties.
  6. Update the Operations parameter to enable editing and allow editors to add, update, and delete features. Update the Properties parameter to apply the default to features with z-values and allow geometry updates without m-values.

  7. Click Analyze Analyze and fix any errors.
  8. Click Publish to publish the utility network.

    A feature service is published to ArcGIS Enterprise. To view the service in Portal for ArcGIS, click the Manage layer link at the bottom of the Share As Web Layer pane.

Publish the map service

Now that you've updated the Gas Utility Network map, you're ready to publish the Gas Simple Network map service.

To publish the map service, complete the following steps:

  1. Browse to the Gas Simple Network map.
  2. On the Share tab, in the Share As group, click Web Layer Publish Web Layer.

    The Share As Web Layer pane appears.

  3. In the Share As Web Layer pane, update the sharing properties on the General tab. Specifically, update Sharing Options to share with your ArcGIS Enterprise organization.
  4. Click Publish to publish the map service.

    A map service is published to ArcGIS Enterprise. To view the service in Portal for ArcGIS, click the Manage layer link at the bottom of the Share As Web Layer pane.

Now that your utility network has been published, update your subnetworks to take advantage of additional subnetwork management capabilities.
