Overview

Participatory Budgeting (PB) is a configuration of the Crowdsource Reporter application that can be used by the general public to identify, discuss, and prioritize public spending projects. This application complements a comprehensive Participatory Budgeting program adopted by local governments to engage community members directly in budget decisions that affect their lives.

Participatory Budgeting is typically deployed by public works agencies or government leaders to enlist feedback from community members. Local Government personnel can configure Crowdsource Manager and Operations Dashboard for ArcGIS to monitor, verify and assign project ideas to agencies responsible for project proposals. This feedback supports a process of democratic deliberation and decision-making in which ordinary people decide how to allocate part of a government budget.
