Configure asset identifier map

ArcMap is used to assign asset identifiers to poles and signals collected in the field. Before you begin assigning asset identifiers, add the Attribute Assistant toolbar to a map and configure your asset identifier rules so you can access the tools and assign asset identifiers.

To add the Attribute Assistant toolbar and asset identifier rules, complete the following steps:

  1. In ArcMap, open the Attribute Assistant toolbar by browsing to Customize > Toolbars > Attribute Assistant.
  2. Sign in to your ArcGIS Online organization.
  3. Add the Poles and Signals layers from your ArcGIS Online organization to the map.
  4. Using ArcMap, create a new geodatabase to assign asset identifiers.
  5. Browse to the folder you downloaded the add-in to. Copy the DynamicValue and GenerateID tables and paste them in to your new geodatabase.
  6. Start an edit session.
  7. Configure the GenerateID table and add a sequence to generate a sequential identifier for each Pole, Signal, and Signal Cabinet feature.
  8. Configure the DynamicValue table and add a Generate ID method to your Dynamic Value table for your Pole, Signal and Signal Cabinet layers.
  9. Configure the DynamicValue table and add an Intersecting Feature method to your Dynamic Value table for your Signal layer.
  10. Save your edits.
  11. Right-click on the Poles layer in the Table of Contents window and click Edit Features > Create Local Copy for Editing.
  12. Right-click on the Signals layer in the Table of Contents window and click Edit Features > Create Local Copy for Editing.
  13. Right-click on the Signal Cabinets layer in the Table of Contents window and click Edit Features > Create Local Copy for Editing.
  14. Begin using ArcMap to assign asset identifiers.
