    • Import functionality retains fields from the input.
    • Right-click to view values associated with points in the List.
    • Support for importing .xlsx and .xls files.
    • Support for Windows Ctrl+V to paste coordinates to the List.
    • Support for Windows Ctrl+C to copy coordinates from the List.
    • Retrieve/copy different formats for coordinates already in the List.
    • Save and load a set of favorite coordinate output formats.
  • Military Tools geoprocessing toolbox:
    • Enhanced the Number Features geoprocessing tool's input feature set symbology to improve visibility in Dark Theme.
    • Improved license handling for Military Tools geoprocessing tools.
    • Added DD_Numeric output format to Convert Coordinates geoprocessing tool.

Issues addressed

The Military Tools for ArcGIS 3.4 release fixes the issues below.

Coordinate Conversion

BugDescription

DDM Formatter returning results in incorrect hemisphere

Distance and Direction

Issues addressed for Distance and Direction are described in the following table:

BugDescription

Range rings creation method drop-down menu should have a label

Line creation method drop-down menu should have a label

Out of bounds clicks for Lines tab interactive construction not handled correctly

Distance and Direction rounds input coordinate values to two decimal places

Military Symbol Editor

Issues addressed for Military Symbol Editor are described in the following table:

BugDescription

Unable to change the entity field for an existing symbol.

Military Tools

Issues addressed for Military Tools are described in the following table:

BugDescription

Number of Radials input set to 0 fails for tools in the Distance and Direction toolset

Visibility

BugDescription

DDM inputs are being placed in incorrect hemisphere

Known issues

Known limitations of Military Tools for ArcGIS are listed below.

ArcGIS Pro

Coordinate Conversion

  • Import functionality should look through an Excel workbook to allow the user to select which worksheet to import
  • If there are points in the List that have fields different than other points in the List, only the fields from the top point are exported to FC/SHP/KML
  • Right-click in the List loses selection of multiple points
  • Coordinate Conversion does not handle out of bounds clicks like Distance and Direction in ArcGIS Pro
  • Confirm Removal? dialog box does not support Dark Theme
  • Exporting to feature class when using a custom Display Coordinate causes ArcGIS Pro to become unresponsive
  • When UTM or MGRS coordinates are collected directly from a grid corner they are rounded down when used again
  • Select tool does not select points that were imported from a CSV file in ArcGIS Pro
  • Coordinate Conversion add-in gives "please enter a valid coordinate" for table of valid coordinates
  • Coordinate Conversion click-selection of coordinate locations on map should match list click behavior
  • Coordinate Conversion selection of added coordinate points on maps needs bigger tolerance
  • Coordinate Conversion input coordinate -- formatting lost in Northern Hemisphere
  • Coordinate Conversion: UTM rounding issue
  • An output MGRS or USNG coordinate is not provided in the polar regions.
  • Coordinate Conversion expects components of latitude and longitude input values to be balanced

Distance and Direction

  • Distance unit in feature tables is not based on resource value.
  • New feature dataset is added to the default geodatabase if the layers are not present in the table of contents.
  • Range ring radials distorted when they pass near the poles.
  • Range rings creation method drop-down menu should have a label.
  • Line creation method drop-down menu should have a label.
  • Range Rings Distances table does not consistently sort/reorder rows by dragging.

Military Symbol Editor

  • Only one Military Symbol Editor schema can exist in an enterprise GDB
  • Using the Military Overlay datamodel does not show symbols in legend
  • Military Symbol Editor is missing the ability to add specific required symbol attributes from Table IV of MIL-STD-2525B w/CHANGE 2
  • On ArcGIS Pro 2.1, times must be entered manually in date time fields.
  • Country codes not displaying for 2525D

Visibility

  • Limited vertical range for RLOS inputs.
  • Changing the map projection after being set to a non projected coordinate system causes failure.

Military Tools

  • GRG From Point tool only works in the WGS 1984 Web Mercator (auxiliary sphere) projection.
  • Linear Line of Sight tool output layer class labels are numeric (0, 1) on ArcGIS Pro 2.1 and 2.2, but are verbose (Not Visible, Visible) on ArcGIS Pro 2.3.

ArcMap

Coordinate Conversion

  • Import functionality should look through an Excel workbook to allow the user to select which worksheet to import
  • If there are points in the List that have fields different than other points in the List, only the fields from the top point are exported to FC/SHP/KML
  • Right-click in the List loses selection of multiple points
  • When selecting a coordinate that has identical coordinates in the list, the point is not highlighted on the map
  • Select tool does not select points that were imported from a CSV file
  • Coordinate Conversion click-selection of coordinate locations on map should match list click behavior
  • Coordinate Conversion selection of added coordinate points on maps needs bigger tolerance
  • Coordinate Conversion input coordinate -- formatting lost in Northern Hemisphere
  • An output MGRS/USNG coordinate is not provided in the polar regions.
  • Coordinate Conversion: UTM rounding issue (1 meter off)
  • Coordinate Conversion expects components of latitude and longitude input values to be balanced
  • The diaeresis and double acute accent symbol for seconds mark are not supported

Distance and Direction

  • ConstructGeodesicCircle / ConstructGeodesicEllipse fails to return for some projections when you click outside the map extent.
  • Add-in holds on to previous coordinate system after changing the data frame coordinate system. To use a different coordinate system with the Distance and Direction add-in, close the add-in, start a new map, set the coordinate system, and open the add-in.
  • Range rings creation method drop-down menu should have a label.
  • Line creation method drop-down menu should have a label.
  • Range Rings Distances table does not consistently sort/reorder rows by dragging.

Visibility

  • Selecting existing feature classes for Observer/Target points results in bad sight lines
  • Limited vertical range for RLOS inputs.
  • Changing the data frame after receiving a message that data must be projected causes the results to not be shown upon running.

Military Tools

  • GRG From Point tool only works in the WGS 1984 Web Mercator (auxiliary sphere) projection.
