Configure application

The Site Selector application is a configuration of ArcGIS Web AppBuilder. This application consumes the map you authored and geographic information from your organization.

Site Selector application

To configure the Site Selector application, complete the following steps:

  1. Sign in to your ArcGIS organization.
  2. Create an app using Web AppBuilder and add the following:
    • Title: Site Selector.
    • Tags: Development Sites, Vacant Land, Site Selector, Economic Development.
    • Summary: Site Selector can be used by business owners and corporations to locate available buildings and sites in a community.
  3. Click the Theme tab and choose the Plateau Theme, then choose the Style and Layout for your Site Selector application.
  4. Click the Map tab and if necessary click Choose Web Map, then browse to the Site Selector map you created and click OK.
  5. Click the Widgets tab, then click Set the widget in this controller and remove the Legend widget and Layer List widget.
  6. Click + to open the widget collection and choose the Near Me widget, and then click OK.
  7. Change the name of the Near Me widget to Locate Site.
  8. Click the Search Settings tab, Select search layer(s) by clicking Set and checking the check box next to Improved Sites and Vacant Sites layer, and then click OK.
  9. Check the Set location button and Set buffer visibility, Use geodesic buffer, Zoom to the selected feature, and Enable proximity search check boxes.
  10. Optionally, change the buffer and address or location symbol.
  11. Set the Set default buffer distance to 1, the Set maximum buffer distance to 15, and Buffer distance units to Miles.
  12. Click the Filter Settings tab and set a filter, by clicking New Filter.
  13. In the Layer drop-down choose Improved Sites.
  14. Type Improved Sites into the Title text box.
  15. Click the Icon drop-down and browse to an icon.
  16. Click on the Expressions tab > Add expression and add the following filter expression: Building Area - Square Feet (Number) is between.
  17. Check the Ask for values check box.
  18. Type Floor area (sq. ft) between into Prompt text box.
  19. Click Add expression and choose All of the following expressions in this set are true from the drop-down.
  20. Add the following filter expression: Acquisition (String) is Sale or Lease.
  21. Check the Ask for values check box.
  22. Type Acquisition type into Prompt text box.
  23. Click New Filter.
  24. In the Layer drop-down choose Vacant Sites.
  25. Type Vacant Sites into the Title text box.
  26. Click the Icon drop-down and browse to an icon.
  27. Click on the Expressions tab > Add expression and add the following filter expression: Total Area - Acres (Number) is between.
  28. Check the Ask for values check box.
  29. Type Land area (ac.) between into Prompt text box.
  30. Click Add expression and add the following filter expression: Electric (String) is Yes.
  31. Check the Ask for values check box.
  32. Type Electric service available? into Prompt text box.
  33. Click Add expression and add the following filter expression: Natural Gas (String) is Yes.
  34. Check the Ask for values check box.
  35. Type Gas service available? into Prompt text box.
  36. Click Add expression and add the following filter expression: High-Speed ISP (String) is Yes.
  37. Check the Ask for values check box.
  38. Type Broadband available? into Prompt text box.
  39. Click Add expression and add the following filter expression: Acquisition (String) is Sale or Lease.
  40. Check the Ask for values check box.
  41. Type Acquisition type into Prompt text box.
  42. Click OK.
  43. Hover over the Locate Site widget, then click the dot in the lower left and change it to dark green, so the widget automatically opens when the app starts.
  44. Click + to open the widget collection and choose the About widget, and then click OK.
  45. Provide information about the application in the text editor, and then click OK.
  46. Click the Attribute tab and click the logo icon, then browse to your Site Selector application icon.
  47. Choose an icon and click Open.
  48. Type ...locate available buildings and sites in our community in Subtitle text box.
  49. Save the application.
  50. Browse to the Site Selector application and edit the item details:
    • Thumbnail image: Your image
    • Description: Site Selector can be used by business owners and corporations to locate available buildings and sites in a community.
  51. Save the application and share it with everyone.
  52. Launch your Site Selector application.
