Monitor Permits

The Permit Dashboard can serve as a single destination for a collection of information such as permit inspection status, compliance, a breakdown of permit types, and a dynamic view of permits nearing expiration.

Permit Processing Time

Track how long each permit application has been awaiting approval. By monitoring permit processing time, you can easily assess how efficiently permit applications are being processed, and determine if any permit application has been pending approval for too long. In this example, the Permit Dashboard is configured to display how many permits have been pending approval for 30, 60 or 90 days.

  1. Click the Panel Setting drop-down and choose Insert Panel > Thirds.
  2. Add a summary widget using the Permits pending approval for 30 days or less filter as the data source. Now this widget will display the number of permits that have been pending approval for 30 days or less.
  3. Name the widget Permits Pending Approval for 30 days or Less and configure the appearance properties by setting the display color to green.
  4. For the remaining two widgets on the panel, repeat steps 1-3 both for Permits Pending approval for 31-60 days (display color: orange) and for Permits Pending Approval for 61-90 days (display color: red). These values can help provide an overview of how well the department is staying on top of processing permits by giving a quick indication of how many permits await approval and for how long.
