Track snow plow locations

The SnowCOP application can be extended to monitor the current location of snow plows, and produce performance reports that help you understand the effectiveness of your response plans. To track snow plow locations, complete the following steps:

  1. Configure your GeoEvent Processor feed and publish your SnowPlows as a feature service using ArcGIS for Server or ArcGIS Enterprise.
  2. Add your SnowPlows service to your ArcGIS Online organization and edit the item details:
    • Title: SnowPlows.
    • Thumbnail image: Your image.
    • Description: Locations of snow plows tracked during snow storm responses.
    • Tags: SnowCOP, Plow Activity, Public Works, Snow or Ice, Snow Response, Plowing
  3. Add the SnowPlows layer to the SnowCOP map.
  4. Configure the pop-up for the layer.
  5. Set the Refresh Interval for the SnowPlow layer.
  6. Save the map.
  7. Open the SnowCOP dashboard in the ArcGIS Dashboards application.
  8. Click Widgets > Add Panel and choose Full Page.
  9. In the panel click Add Widget and choose list widget, and then click OK. Choose the SnowCop - SnowPlows as the data source and name it Snow Plows. Click the Allow Filter check box.
  10. In the Data tab, set the Sort Field to a field containing the last update time.
  11. Click the Feature Display next to the Title text box. Click the Insert Field button and choose the field containing a unique id or name of the plow.
  12. Click the Feature Actions tab and enable Follow, Highlight, and Zoom to, then choose Zoom to in the Double-click drop-down.
  13. Click OK to add the widget.
  14. Save the operation view.
