Validate your gas utility data

Data Reviewer for Gas Utilities contains quality control checks that can be used to assess the quality of gas distribution data.

Batch jobs (*.rbj) are quality control models that encapsulate validation information to be run against a data workspace. They are easily distributed and help ensure the use of consistent checks when validating data so that it conforms to your organization's specifications.

To validate the gas network data, complete the following steps:

  1. Start by opening up a new map document.
  2. Start a Reviewer session using the geodatabase created when setting up the editing map as the Reviewer Workspace and name your Reviewer session Gas Batch Validation.
  3. Click the Reviewer Batch Validate button on the Data Reviewer toolbar to open the Batch Validate dialog box. Then, load your batch jobs by completing the following steps:
  4. When batch validation is finished, the Table Writer dialog box will appear indicating the number of records that have been written to the Reviewer Table. Click OK.
  5. Click the Reviewer Table button on the Data Reviewer toolbar to open the Reviewer Table.
  6. Double-click a record in the Reviewer Table, which will select and zoom to the location of the issue.

  7. Start an edit session and edit the feature to resolve the issue.
  8. Right-click on first record in the Reviewer Table and click Enter Correction Status. In the Reviewer Correction dialog box, do the following:
    • Set the Evaluation to Resolve and Explanation to Custom.
    • Type a description of the edit as your correction explanation and click OK.
    • Scroll to the right side of the Reviewer table to see the updated CORRECTIONTECHNICIAN, CORRECTIONDATE, and CORRECTIONSTATUS fields.

  9. In the Data Reviewer panel, click Options > Report and do the following:
  10. Continue to review the other issues listed in the Reviewer Table to see the other types of errors identified by Data Reviewer.
  11. Stop the Reviewer session.
