Configure Small Stormwater

You may need to modify the Mapping for Small Stormwater Systems configuration to meet unique needs of your organization. This is most commonly achieved through extending the deployed maps and feature layers. Modifying core components of the Small Stormwater configuration may result in unintended application behavior and should be avoided. Depending upon your experience it may be faster and safer to have Esri Professional Services or an Esri Business Partner extend the Small Stormwater configuration for you.

Extend feature layers

The layers provided by the Small Stormwater configuration are set up to support the configuration's included maps and apps.

You may need to modify (add or alter fields, domains, and so on) feature layers to support specific business needs of your organization. Deleting existing fields or layers is strongly discouraged as it may lead to unintended application behavior or errors.

When modifying feature layers, domains can be modified or added to fields, to help streamline data collection.

To modify feature layers, complete the following steps:

  1. Start ArcGIS Pro and create or open a project.
  2. Add the feature layer to your map.
  3. On the Edit tab, in the Features group, click Create Features Create Features to open the Create Features pane.
  4. In the Create Features pane, select an editing template and place a sample feature on the map.
  5. Note any changes you want to make to fields or domains included with each layer.
  6. Once you've noted changes you want to make, click the Delete Delete button to remove the sample feature.
  7. On the Share tab, in the Deploy group, click ArcGIS Solutions Solutions Deployment to open the Tasks pane.
  8. In the Tasks pane, double-click Configure an ArcGIS Solution to open the steps in the task.
  9. Add missing fields to the feature layer by populating the Add Fields task and clicking Run. Repeat this step for each field you want to add.
  10. After you've added all the fields required, click Next Step to proceed to the next step.
  11. Modify and add any domains used in the feature layer by populating the Update Domains task and clicking Run. Repeat this step for each domain you want to add or alter.
  12. After you've finished modifying domains, click Finish to exit the task.

Pop-ups with custom URL scheme

The Field Report and Stormwater Mobile Viewer need to be configured to use a custom URL scheme, which allows the users to open other apps from a mobile device. To configure the map and form to leverage a custom URL scheme, complete the following steps:

  1. Sign in to your ArcGIS organization and browse to the Field Report form.
  2. Open the item details page and copy its item ID.
  3. Configure the URL that will be used in the map to link to ArcGIS Survey123. In addition to specifying the form that will be opened from the URL, you can also configure the URL scheme to populate form answers based on the feature.
  4. Browse to and open the Stormwater Mobile Viewer in Map Viewer and configure the pop-up of the asset layer.
  5. Highlight the pop-up text to report an issue and create link text. Paste the URL you configured in the previous step as the URL here.
Create a link in the layer pop-up properties.

  6. Save the configured pop-up.
  7. Configure the link for all other layers in the map.
  8. Test the pop-up by clicking the link you configured. If it's configured correctly, the link will open ArcGIS Survey123 to the form that you configured the URL to open, and any fields that are populated will have values.
  9. Save the map.
  10. Configure the Field Report form to allows the users to go back to the app they were using prior to reporting an issue in the field. If not already, sign in to your ArcGIS organization and browse to the Stormwater Mobile Viewer map.
  11. Open the item details page and copy its item ID.
  12. Configure the URL that will be used in the form to link back to the viewer map.
  13. Using ArcGIS Survey123 Connect, sign in to your ArcGIS organization and browse to the Field Report survey. You may need to download the survey.
  14. Open the survey and click Open XLS Form Spreadsheet button to open the spreadsheet.
  15. In the spreadsheet, browse to the note row. Update the label to use the URL that you have configured in step 3.
  16. Save the survey and republish to your organization.

Extend maps

The maps provided with this configuration are set up to support the configuration's included apps and their associated workflows. You may need to modify (add or alter styles, modify pop-ups, and so on) the maps to support specific business needs in your organization.

To modify maps, complete the following steps:

  1. Sign in to your ArcGIS organization and browse to the map.
  2. Open the map in Map Viewer and review each layer to identify changes you want to make to the style, filter, pop-ups, or other remaining layer properties.
  3. Optionally change the style for each layer.
  4. Configure the pop-ups to meet the needs of your organization.
  5. If necessary, edit any existing filters or other remaining layer properties.
  6. Save the map and edit the item details.

Forms

The form or forms provided with this solution reflect specific data collection requirements and include the layout and question configuration necessary to support the survey in your organization. In some cases, you may want to configure (alter layers, set default values, and so on) the forms to support specific business needs in your organization.

To configure the forms, complete the following steps:

  1. Using Survey123 Connect, sign in to your ArcGIS organization and browse to the survey you want to update. You may need to download the survey.
  2. Open the survey and use the form preview to identify changes you want to make to the questions, appearance, default values, or other remaining layer properties.
  3. Configure the survey to meet the needs of your organization.
  4. If you've configured the feature layers of the solution, you need to update the survey regarding any additional fields that have changed or been added. If this is not done, you won't be able to republish your survey as the submission URL will not match.
  5. Save the survey and republish to your organization.
