Data Driven Pages for the Incident Action Plan

The Incident Action Plan is designed to be viewed as a map book built using Data Driven Pages. The settings in the steps below are for the sample data provided by the City of Naperville. Adjust the settings as needed to assemble the map book using your data.

Configure Incident Action Plan

To configure a Incident Action Plan, complete the following steps:

  1. Click the Data Driven Pages Setup button on the Data Driven Pages toolbar.
  2. On the Definition tab, do the following:
    1. Check the Enable Data Driven Pages check box.
    2. Set Layer > USNG 1KM.
    3. Set Name Field > USNG Coordinate.
    4. Set Sort Field > USNG Coordinate.
    5. Check Sort Ascending.
  3. On the Extent tab, do the following:
    1. Choose Best Fit.
    2. Type 100% to set the Margin Size.
    3. Type 100 to set Round Scale to Nearest.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Click the Layout View button.

Once Data Driven Pages is set up, you can navigate the map book pages by map sheet name or page number.

Export Data Driven Pages

To export the map book pages, complete the following steps:

  1. Click Export Map on the File menu and set Save as type to PDF.
  2. Type IncidentActionPlanDDP to name the file and save it to the Application\Output folder.
  3. On the Export Map dialog box, click Options.
  4. On the General tab, for Resolution, type 300.
  5. On the Pages tab, type 1-15 to set the Page Range and click Save.
  6. Once the map book pages have been exported, use the Create PDF Map Book tool to assemble the map book pages, the cover page, and the index map into a single PDF document.
