Relate Calls to Sites

Summary

This tool estimates the area in which a cell phone was used based on antenna use records from cell phone providers.

Usage

  • Using records from cell phone providers, this tool estimates the areas in which a cell phone subscriber has been active.
  • Antenna use records must be stored in an Excel spreadsheet or comma-separated value (CSV) file in the same format as the document provided with the Cell Phone Analysis download.
  • In cases where a call began in one sector and ended in another, the call is counted once in each of the sectors.
  • In cases where a call began in one sector and ended in another, the duration of the call is not divided between the beginning and ending sectors. The total duration of the call is preserved as an attribute of both features.
