Configure application

The Drug Drop-off Locator application is a configuration of ArcGIS Web AppBuilder. This application consumes the Drug Drop-off Locator map you authored and geographic information from your organization.

Drug Drop-off Locator application

To configure the Drug Drop-off Locator application, complete the following steps:

  1. Sign in to your ArcGIS organization.
  2. Create an app using Web AppBuilder and add the following:
    • Title: Drug Drop-off Locator
    • Tags: Drug Drop-off, Prescriptions, Public Health, Law Enforcement, Fire Service.
    • Summary: An application used by the general public to locate facilities where unused prescription drugs can be safely disposed.
  3. Click the Theme tab and choose the Plateau Theme, then choose the Style and Layout for your Drug Drop-off Locator application.
  4. Click the Map tab and if necessary click Choose Web Map, then browse to the Drug Drop-off Locator map and click OK.
  5. Click the Widgets tab, then click Set the widget in this controller and remove the Legend widget and Layer List widget.
  6. Click + to open the widget collection and choose the Near Me widget, and then click OK.
  7. Change the name of the Near Me widget to Locate Drop-off Facilities.
  8. In the Search Source Settings section, click Add Search Source > Feature Layer.
  9. Choose Add from ArcGIS Online and search for Drop-off Facility.
  10. Click on the PrescriptionDrugLocations layer and click Next.
  11. Choose the Drug Drop Off layer and click OK.
  12. Type Name of Facility into the Placeholder Text text box.
  13. Click the pencil icon to add search fields. Check the check box next to the Name of Facility, and then click OK.
  14. Click the Display Fields drop-down and choose Name of Facility.
  15. Click the Search Settings tab, set the Select Search Layer(s), by clicking the Set button and checking the check box next to the Drug Drop-off Locations layer, and then click OK.
  16. Check the Set location button and Set buffer visibility, Use geodesic buffer, and Zoom to the selected feature check boxes.
  17. Optionally, change the buffer and address or location symbol.
  18. Set the Set default buffer distance to 2, the Set maximum buffer distance to 20, and Buffer distance units to Miles, and then click OK.
  19. Hover over the Locate Drop-off Facilities widget, then click the dot and change it to dark green, so the widget automatically opens when the app starts.
  20. Click + to open the widget collection and choose the About widget, and then click OK.
  21. Change the name of the About widget to Information and provide information about the application in the text editor, and then click OK.
  22. Click the Attribute tab and click the logo icon, then browse to your Drug Drop-off Locator application icon.
  23. Choose an icon and click Open.
  24. Type ...safely collecting prescription medications in our community in Subtitle text box.
  25. Save the application.
  26. Browse to the Drug Drop-off Locator application and edit the item details:
    • Thumbnail Image: Your image
    • Description: An application used by the general public to locate facilities where unused prescription drugs can be safely disposed.
  27. Share the application with everyone.
  28. Launch your Drug Drop-off Locator application.
