Publish service

The fire incidents layer must be published initially to ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS for Server or ArcGIS Enterprise before configuring incident updates. Select a deployment method and follow the steps below to publish the services required for the Fire Incident Map gallery application.

Fire Incidents

To publish the fire incidents layer as a service, complete the following steps:

Browse to the MapsandGeodatabase folder and open the FireIncidents.mxd.
Publish the fire incidents map document as a hosted feature layer using ArcGIS Online or as a map service using ArcGIS for Server or ArcGIS Enterprise.

Note:

When publishing to ArcGIS Online, the feature service and service definition must be stored in the root directory.
Sign in to your ArcGIS Online organization.

Note:

If you published the incident service with ArcGIS for Server or ArcGIS Enterprise, you'll have to add each service to your ArcGIS Online organization before completing the remaining steps.
Browse to the service and edit the item details:
- Title: FireIncidents.
- Thumbnail image: Your image.
- Description: Fires and other incidents to which the department responds to.
- Tags: Fire Incidents, Calls for Service, Reporting, Fire Runs, Medical Calls.
- Disable Editing.
- Sync: Disable Sync.
