Set up map book

The Fire Run Book is used to produce a series of wall maps of each fire station district. Before you begin, add the Data Driven Pages toolbar to the map so you access the tools for creating a map book.

To add the toolbar, complete the following steps:

  1. Browse to the MapsandGeodatabase folder and open one of the following Fire Run Book map documents:
    • FireRunBook_Landscape.mxd for landscape map pages
    • FireRunBook_Portrait.mxd for portrait map pages
  2. Then, open one of the following station map index map documents:
    • StationMapIndex_Landscape.mxd for a landscape index page
    • StationMapIndex_Portrait.mxd for a portrait index page
  3. In ArcMap, open the Data Driven Pages toolbar by browsing to Customize > Toolbars > Data Driven Pages.
  4. Begin using the map.

When you're ready to use the editing map with your data, start by downloading the ArcGIS for Local Government Information Model. It can be used to create the empty geodatabase you'll need to migrate your data.
