Create new event

Special Events are community events scheduled to occur on public property. Typically, these events are celebrations and festivals, parades and athletic or recreational activities that are open to the public. The information used to generate special event maps are primarily obtained from details included on special event permit applications submitted to the local government.

Special Events

Special event plans can be created for planned community events such as festivals, parades, marathons, protests, bike rallies, and so on.

To add a new event, complete the following steps:

  1. Start an edit session.
  2. In the Create Features window, select a special event polygon feature template.
  3. Draw the new special event.
  4. Fill in the feature attribute for the new special event polygon.
  5. Save your edits.

Event Assets

Special event points represent resource locations in an event plan such as food concessions, restrooms, ticket offices, or road closures. Additional information about each point feature can be organized in separate tables and related to these locations using the values in the Event Number field. Therefore, each special event point shares the same Event Number value as the surrounding polygon.

To add a new asset, complete the following steps:

  1. Start an edit session.
  2. In the Create Features window, select a special event point feature template.
  3. Draw the new special event asset and continue adding assets as necessary.
  4. Fill in the feature attribute for the new special event points.
  5. Save your edits.

Event Routes

Special event lines represent resource locations in an event plan such as evacuation routes, pedestrian routes, and vehicle egress and ingress routes.

To add a new route, complete the following steps:

  1. In the Create Features window, select a special event line feature template.
  2. Draw the new special event route and continue adding routes as necessary.
  3. Fill in the attribute for the new special event routes.
  4. Save your edits.

Event Areas

Special event areas represent resource locations in an event plan such as restricted areas, VIP areas, and vehicle and bus parking areas.

To add a new area, complete the following steps:

  1. In the Create Features window, select a special event area feature template.
  2. Draw the new special event area and continue adding areas as necessary.
  3. Fill in the feature attribute for the new special event areas.
  4. Save your edits.
