Publish services

Wildlife management area information can be accessed on a smartphone, tablet and desktop computer with the Wildlife Management Area Locator application. Select a deployment method using ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS for Server and follow the steps below to publish the services required for the Wildlife Management Area Locator application.

To implement the Wildlife Management Area Locator application, complete the following steps:

  1. Publish the WMAPoints.mxd as a hosted feature service using ArcGIS Online or as a feature service using ArcGIS for Server.
  2. Publish the WMABoundaries.mxd as a hosted feature service using ArcGIS Online or as a feature service using ArcGIS for Server.
  3. Choose a geometry service. If you are using ArcGIS for Server and the geometry service has not started, start the geometry service. If you are using ArcGIS Online, use the geometry service provided by Esri or a geometry service from another ArcGIS for Server machine.
  4. Sign in to your ArcGIS Online organization.
  5. Browse to the Wildlife Management Area Points service and edit the item details:
    • Name: Wildlife Management Area Locator.
    • Thumbnail Image: your image.
    • Description: Wildlife Management Area Locator and recreation opportunities available to citizens in the community.
    • Tags: Wildlife, Recreation, Outdoor Activities.
    • Disable Sync.
    • Editing: Enable editing and keep track of who created and last updated features.
    • What kind of editing is allowed?: Add, update, and delete features.
  6. Browse to the Wildlife Management Area Boundaries service and edit the item details:
    • Name: Wildife Management Area.
    • Thumbnail Image: your image.
    • Description: Wildlife Management Areas available to citizens in the states.
    • Tags: Wildlife, Recreation, Hunting, Outdoor Activities.
    • Disable Sync.
    • Disable Editing.
