Create map

The Events Calendar application consumes maps that are accessible to the general public and named users in your ArcGIS organization. Create an events calendar map and share it with the general public interested in event and activity information. They can then access the Events Calendar application on smartphones, desktop computers, or tablet devices.

To create an ArcGIS events calendar map, complete the following steps:

  1. Sign in to your ArcGIS organization.
  2. Create a map to display community events, by completing the following workflow:
    • Choose a basemap.
    • Add the CommunityEvents layers to the map.
    • Configure pop-up for each layer.
    • Save the map as Events Calendar add the following tags and enter a summary:
      • Tags: Community Events, Tourism, Events Calendar, Economic Development, Trip Planner
  3. Disable editing on the Community Events layer.
  4. Save the map and share it with everyone.
  5. Browse to the Events Calendar map and edit the item details:
    • Thumbnail image: Your image.
    • Description: A map used in the Events Calendar application to discover festivals, shows, concerts and other events occurring in a community.
