Use the map documents to create a multi-scale cache for each of the vector-based basemaps (Topographic, Light Grey Canvas, Imagery Reference).
- Open an ArcMap document.
- Reset the data sources in the map document to point to your data, if necessary. Your data must be in the UTDS database schema.
- Share the map document as a Map Service.
- For best performance, set the following properties in the Service Editor window.
- In the Parameters tab, set Anti-aliasing to Best and Force.
- In the Capabilities tab, uncheck the Mapping options for Data and Query.
- In the Caching tab, set the service to draw the map Using tiles from a cache.
- In the Caching tab, select the appropriate tiling scheme and the applicable scales for your data.
- In the Item Description tab, fill out the Item Summary, Tags, and Description.
- Use the Analyze button at the top of the Service Editor window to analyze your map for any errors.
- Publish your map.
Once the basemaps have been published to your organizational portal, you can place all your basemaps into a single group that will be used exclusively for basemaps in the ArcGIS Portal Map Viewer.
