Configure application

The Capital Project Locator application is a configuration of ArcGIS Web AppBuilder. This application consumes the Capital Project Locator map you authored and geographic information from your organization.

To configure the Capital Project Locator application, complete the following steps:

  1. Sign in to your ArcGIS organization.
  2. Create an app using Web AppBuilder and add the following:
    • Title: Capital Project Locator.
    • Tags: Capital Project Tracking, Capital Planning, Capital Project Planning, Local Government, Public Works, CIP, Capital Improvement Plan, Capital Projects, Project Planning, Water, Sewer, Stormwater, Transportation, Parks, Facilities, Water Utilities, Capital Project Locator.
    • Summary: Capital Project Locator is a configuration of ArcGIS Web AppBuilder that can be used by the general public and other interested parties to review the status of capital projects under construction in their community.
  3. Click the Theme tab and choose the Plateau Theme, then choose the Style and Layout for your Capital Project Locator application.
  4. Click the Map tab and if necessary click Choose Web Map, then browse to the Capital Project Locator map and click OK.
  5. Click the Widgets tab, then click Set the widget in this controller and remove the Legend widget and Layer List widget.
  6. Click + to open the widget collection and choose the Near Me widget, and then click OK.
  7. Change the name of the Near Me widget to Locate Project.
  8. In the Search Source Settings section, click Add Search Source > Feature Layer.
  9. Choose the Water Distribution Projects layer and click OK.
  10. Click the pencil icon to add search fields. Check the check box next to Project Name, and then click OK.
  11. Click the Display Field drop-down and choose Project Name.
  12. Repeat step 8 through 12 for each additional asset type you would like to share in your Capital Project Locator application.
  13. Click the Search Settings tab, set the Select Search Layer(s), by clicking the Set button and checking the check boxes next to the Water Distribution Projects and each additional layer you would like to include, and clicking OK.
  14. Check the Set location button, Set buffer visibility, Use geodesic buffer, and Zoom to the selected feature check boxes.
  15. Optionally, change the buffer and address or location symbol.
  16. Set the Set default buffer distance to 1, Set maximum buffer distance to 10, and Buffer distance units to Miles, and then click OK.
  17. Hover over the Locate Center, then click the dot and change it to dark green, so the widget automatically opens when the app starts.
  18. Click + to open the widget collection and choose the About widget, and then click OK.
  19. Provide information about the application in the text editor, and then click OK.
  20. Click < Widgets to return to the main widget menu.
  21. In the list of default widgets below the Header Controller, turn off the Scalebar widget, by hovering over the widget and clicking on the eye icon in the upper-right corner of the widget.
  22. Click the Attribute tab and click the logo icon, then browse to your Capital Project application icon.
  23. Choose an icon and click Open.
  24. Type ...sharing capital project information with our community in Subtitle text box.
  25. Save the application.
  26. Browse to the Capital Project Locator application and edit the item details:
    • Thumbnail Image: Your image.
    • Description: Capital Project Locator is a configuration of ArcGIS Web AppBuilder that can be used by the general public and other interested parties to review the status of capital projects under construction in their community.
  27. Share the application with everyone.
  28. Launch your Capital Project Locator application.
