Create map

ArcGIS Web AppBuilder application consumes maps that are accessible to the general public and named users in your ArcGIS organization. Create a Capital Project Locator map and share it with citizens you serve. They can then access the application on their smartphone, tablets, and desktop computers.

Capital Project Locator map

To create an Capital Project Locator map, complete the following steps:

  1. Sign in to your ArcGIS organization.
  2. Create a map to display capital projects, by completing the following workflow:
    • Choose a basemap.
    • Add the InfrastructureProjects_allfundedprojectspublic layer to the map. Rename the InfrastructureProjects_allfundedprojectspublic layer to Water Distribution Projects.
    • Configure the pop-up for each layer using a custom attribute display option.
    • Save the map as Capital Project Locator add the following tags and enter a summary:
      • Tags: Capital Project Locator, Capital Project Tracking, Capital Planning, Capital Project Planning, Local Government, Public Works, CIP, Capital Improvement Plan, Capital Projects, Project Planning, Water, Sewer, Stormwater, Transportation, Parks, Facilities, Water Utilities
      • Summary: A map used in the Capital Project Locator application to review the status of capital projects under construction in their community.
  3. Apply a filter to the Water Distribution Projects layer by using the following expression: Project Type is Water Distribution. This filter will show all water distribution projects currently under construction in the community.
  4. Create a copy of the Water Distribution Projects layer and rename it to Sewer Projects.
  5. Apply a filter to the Sewer Projects layer by using the following expression: Project Type is Sewer Collection. This filter will show all sewer collection projects currently under construction in the community.
  6. Repeat step 4 and 5 for each additional asset type you would like to share in your Capital Project Locator application such as, Stormwater, Park, Facility, Transportation, and Other.
  7. Save the map and share it with everyone.
  8. Browse to the map and edit the item details:
    • Thumbnail image: Your image.
    • Description: A map used in the Capital Project Locator application to review the status of capital projects under construction in their community.
  9. Set map options by disabling Routing, Measure Tool, and Basemap Selector.
