Publish feature layers

Capital project plans can be defined, coordinated, and shared with stakeholders using ArcGIS Online and a series of configurable application templates. Using ArcGIS Online, follow the steps below to publish the services required for the Capital Project Planning applications.

Infrastructure Projects

To publish the InfrastructureProjects feature layer, complete the following steps:

  1. Sign in to your ArcGIS Online organization.
  2. Publish a new hosted feature layer in your organization using the InfrastructureProjects feature layer in the ArcGIS for Local Government Service Catalog. Add the following title and tags when creating your new hosted feature layer:
    • Title: InfrastructureProjects
    • Tags: Public Works, Capital Planning, CIP, Capital Improvement Plan, Capital Projects, Project Planning, Water, Sewer, Stormwater, Transportation
  3. Edit the feature layer item details:
    • Thumbnail image: Your image.
    • Description: Infrastructure projects identified by respective managers and engineers responsible for the maintenance and improvement of public infrastructure.
    • Editing: Enable editing and Keep track of who created and last updated features.
    • What kind of editing is allowed: Add, update, and delete features.
    • What features can editors edit: Editors can only edit their own features (requires tracking).
    • Sync: Disable Sync.
  4. Share the feature layer with your Public Works Services group.

Pavement Moratoriums

To publish the PavementMoratoriums feature layer, complete the following steps:

  1. Sign in to your ArcGIS Online organization.
  2. Publish a new hosted feature layer in your organization using the PavementMoratoriums feature layer in the ArcGIS for Local Government Service Catalog. Add the following title and tags when creating your new hosted feature layer:
    • Title: PavementMoratoriums
    • Tags: Public Works, Capital Planning, CIP, Capital Improvement Plan, Capital Projects, Project Planning, Water, Sewer, Stormwater, Transportation, Pavement Moratoriums, Penalties
  3. Edit the feature layer item details:
    • Thumbnail image: Your image.
    • Description: Moratoriums issued on newly paved streets that preclude, or greatly restrict, trench cuts or other right-of-way activity.
    • Editing: Enable editing and Keep track of who created and last updated features.
    • What kind of editing is allowed: Add, update, and delete features.
    • What features can editors edit: Editors can only edit their own features (requires tracking).
    • Sync: Disable Sync.
  4. Share the feature layer with your organization, everyone, and the Public Works Services and Open Data groups.

External Agency Projects

To publish the ExternalAgencyProjects feature layer, complete the following steps:

  1. Sign in to your ArcGIS Online organization.
  2. Publish a new hosted feature layer in your organization using the ExternalAgencyProjects feature layer in the ArcGIS for Local Government Service Catalog. Add the following title and tags when creating your new hosted feature layer:
    • Title: ExternalAgencyProjects
    • Tags: Public Works, Capital Planning, CIP, Capital Improvement Plan, Capital Projects, Project Planning, Project Coordination, Water, Sewer, Stormwater, Transportation, External Agencies, Private Utilities
  3. Edit the feature layer item details:
    • Thumbnail image: Your image.
    • Description: Capital projects planned by external agencies or private utilities.
    • Editing: Enable editing and Keep track of who created and last updated features.
    • What kind of editing is allowed: Add, update, and delete features.
    • What features can editors edit: Editors can only edit their own features (requires tracking).
    • Sync: Disable Sync.
  4. Share the feature layer with your Public Works Services and Capital Project Plans - External Agencies groups.

Capital Improvement Plan

To publish the CapitalImprovementPlan feature layer, complete the following steps:

  1. Sign in to your ArcGIS Online organization.
  2. Publish a new hosted feature layer in your organization using the CapitalImprovementPlan feature layer in the ArcGIS for Local Government Service Catalog. Add the following title and tags when creating your new hosted feature layer:
    • Title: CapitalImprovementPlan
    • Tags: Public Works, Capital Planning, CIP, Capital Improvement Plan, Capital Projects, Project Planning, Water, Sewer, Stormwater, Transportation
  3. Edit the feature layer item details:
    • Thumbnail image: Your image.
    • Description: The short-range plan that identifies capital projects and equipment purchases, provides a planning schedule, and identifies options for financing the plan.
    • Editing: Enable editing and Keep track of who created and last updated features.
    • What kind of editing is allowed: Add, update, and delete features.
    • What features can editors edit: Editors can only edit their own features (requires tracking).
    • Sync: Disable Sync.
  4. Share the feature layer with your organization, everyone, and the Public Works Services and Open Data groups.
