Configure Finder app

Finder can be configured in ArcGIS Online or Portal for ArcGIS using the app configuration panel. Many aspects of the app, including the application color scheme, title, and search widget, can be configured using this panel.

If you choose to host and configure Finder on your own web server, define these parameters in the configuration file.

To access the app configuration panel, complete the following steps:

  1. Share a map using the Finder application template.
  2. Provide a title and tags for the application.
  3. Review and update the configuration parameter values. To save and review the changes, click VIEW. When you are done, click SAVE and CLOSE to return to the item details page for your new app.

App Settings

To modify the overall behavior of the app, complete the following steps:

  1. Select the map to display in the application.
  2. Provide a title for the application. This title will display in the application header.
  3. Change the application icon shown in the upper left corner of the app by providing the URL to a PNG, GIF, or JPEG image.
  4. Choose a color scheme for the application title bar, message windows, and widget panels.
  5. By default, the basemap widget is populated with the basemaps from the Basemap Gallery defined in the organization settings. The basemap from the map will also be added to the widget. To use a different collection of basemaps, provide the name of the group and the group owner's user name.
  6. Provide text to display in the Help widget.

Search Settings

Configure the search widget

  1. Provide hint text to display in the search box.
  2. Provide the zoom level used for displaying search results.
  3. Choose to display or not display the pop-up associated with a search result automatically.
  4. Choose the layers and the fields from those layers that will be searched.
  5. Optionally, choose the fields that will be returned as suggested search results. These may or may not be from the fields that are being searched.If a result display field or fields are not specified for a layer, the field containing the search result is used.
