Create maps

The Live, Work, Locate application consumes maps that are accessible to the general public and named users in your ArcGIS Online organization. Create three live, work, locate maps and share it with the general public, business owners and corporations interested in quality of life and community information. Business owners and other interested parties can then access the Live, Work, Locate application on desktop computers or tablet devices.

Live, Work, Locate maps

To create the ArcGIS Online live, work, locate maps, complete the following steps:

  1. Sign in to your ArcGIS Online organization.
  2. Create a map used to display amenities and services, by completing the following workflow:
    • Choose a basemap.
    • Add the LiveWorkLocate layers to the map.
    • Configure pop-ups for each layer.
    • Save the map as Live and add the following tags and enter a summary:
      • Tags: Community Assets, Quality of Life, Facilities, Economic Development
  3. Disable editing on the Live layer.
  4. Share the map with everyone.
  5. Follow the steps above (steps 2 through 4) to create the Work and Locate maps.
  6. Browse to the Live map and edit the item details:
    • Thumbnail image: Your image.
    • Description: This map is used in the Live, Work, Locate application and contains facilities important to individuals who may want to live in our community.
  7. Browse to the Work map and edit the item details:
    • Title: Work.
    • Thumbnail image: Your image.
    • Description: This map is used in the Live, Work, Locate application and contains facilities important to individuals who may want to work in our community.
    • Tags: Employment Locations, Transportation, Businesses, Economic Development.
  8. Browse to the Locate map and edit the item details:
    • Title: Locate.
    • Thumbnail image: Your image.
    • Description: This map is used in the Live, Work, Locate application and contains facilities important to individuals who may want to locate a business in our community.
    • Tags: Employment Locations, Transportation, Businesses, Demographics, Educational Attainment, Economic Development.
