Configure application

The My Government Services application consumes services that are accessible to residents and visitors in your community. You can configure My Government Services application and share it with residents and visitors. Residents and visitors can then access the application on their smartphones, tablets, and desktop computers.

My Government Services application

To configure the My Government Services application using ArcGIS Online, complete the following steps:

  1. Sign in to your ArcGIS Online organization.
  2. Create an app using Web AppBuilder and add the following:
    • Title: My Government Services.
    • Tags: Curbside, Pickup, My Government Services, Public Works, Garbage.
    • Summary: The My Government Services application can be used by the general public to find government services and public works collection areas based on an address or location.
  3. Click the Theme tab and choose the Plateau Theme, then choose the Style and Layout for your My Government Services application.
  4. Click the Map tab and if necessary click Choose Web Map, then browse to the My Government Services map and click OK.
  5. Click the Widgets tab, then click Set the widget in this controller and remove the Legend widget and Layer List widget.
  6. Click + to open the widget collection and choose the Near Me widget, and then click OK.
  7. Change the name of the Near Me widget to Government Services.
  8. Click the change widget icon button and browse to your <your directory>\Application\Icons folder.
  9. Choose an icon and click Open.
  10. In the Search Settings section, do the following:
    • Select search layer(s), by clicking Set and checking the check boxes next to the Railroad Stations, Recycling Facilities, Museums, Community Centers, Post Offices, Libraries, Police Stations, Fire Stations, Street Cleaning, Trash Pickup, Recycling Pickup, and Yard Waste Pickup layers, and then click OK.
    • Check the Only draw selected layer results, Zoom to the selected feature, and Return intersecting polygon(s) check boxes.
    • Check the Set buffer visibility check box, then set the buffer symbol by clicking the polygon symbol and choosing the buffer color and transparency.
  11. Click Direction Setting and choose PublicRoutingService as the Routing Service, by clicking Set and PublicRoutingService under My Content.
  12. Click Next and choose one or more route layers, and then click OK twice.
  13. Hover over the Government Services widget, then click the dot in the lower left and change it to dark green, so the widget automatically opens when the app starts.
  14. Click the Attribute tab and click the logo icon, then browse to <your directory>\Application\Icons folder.
  15. Choose an icon and click Open.
  16. Remove the subtitle.
  17. Save the application.
  18. Launch your My Government Services application.
  19. Browse to the My Government Services application and edit the item details:
    • Thumbnail Image: Your image
    • Description: The My Government Services application can be used by the general public to find government services and public works collection areas based on an address or location.
  20. Save the item and share it with everyone.
