Maps

When implementing the Leak Survey Manager app at your utility, the map documents need to be updated to reflect your data and enterprise database. Complete the steps outlined below for the following map documents:

  • GasLeaks.mxd
  • LeakSurveyReports.mxd
  • LeakSurveyType.mxd
  • LeakSurveyAssignments.mxd

Definition expressions

The LeakSurveyType.mxd and LeakSurveyAssignments.mxd use database specific date queries. The maps include two data frames: one with the layers set up for a SQL Server database and one for an Oracle database.

To update the queries for a database that is not Oracle or SQL Server, complete the following steps:

  1. Determine the appropriate syntax to compare dates and get today's date.
  2. Open the map documents.
  3. Update each layers' definition query to the correct date syntax.

Map document properties

  1. In Windows Explorer, browse to your download's Maps and GDBs folder.
  2. Open each map document.
  3. Fix any broken data sources.
  4. Pan and zoom the map to your service area.
  5. Open the properties of the layer's data frame, select the Data Frame tab, and change the Extent of data in all layers.
  6. Update the map document properties.
