Share the Map

Publishing the map can be as easy as printing it out to carry, or you can publish it as a service for others to use in their workflows.

Creating the Printout

  1. Switch to Layout View.
  2. Input or Update the information in the header, including:
    • Title
    • Date
    • Location
    • Unit (and Insignia or Logo)
    • Classification information
    • Image derivation
    • Date-Time Group (DTG)
  3. If necessary, rotate the data frame to orient on the GRG, by either:
    • Right-clicking on on Data Frame (Clearing Operations) > Properties > General and setting Rotation to 0.
    • Navigating to Customize > Toolbars and selecting Data Frame Tools. Click Clear Rotation.
  4. If necessary, export the map by navigating to File > Export Map.
  5. Print the map.

Publishing the Service

  1. Remove the basemap from the data frame.
  2. Navigate to File > Share As > Service.
  3. Select Publish a service.
  4. Choose the connection desired and input a name.
  5. Input at least the Summary and Tags in the Item Description.
  6. Set the desired Sharing preferences.
  7. Analyze for errors and warnings, and then Publish.
  8. Navigate to the associated portal item, and ensure it looks correct.
