Determine Highest Points

When planning operations in unfamiliar terrain, one of the first tasks is determining where to place observers. High points on the terrain generally command the best views, making them desirable locations for observers. To identify the highest point in a given area, use the Highest Point tool.

Finding the highest point in an area

  1. Run the Highest Points model tool.
  2. Sketch your input area, or select an input feature class.
  3. Select your Input Surface.
  4. Select an output name and geodatabase location.

This workflow has guided you through the steps of finding the highest points in a selected area.
