The ArcGIS Solutions Schema Migration Wizard helps you migrate from an older version of an ArcGIS Solution Information Model to a newer version (for example, June 2014 to December 2014), while appending content provided from each version. The Schema Migration Wizard analyzes your current information model and gives you the opportunity to:
- Keep and/or replace the current content in your information model
- Add new content not currently in your information model
- Update your information model with new content, for example, updated field names
- Remove content in your information model that is no longer included in ArcGIS Solution
When complete, the wizard outputs a new XML Workspace document that can be imported into a new geodatabase in ArcGIS or opened with X-Ray for ArcCatalog to make detailed geodatabase design changes.
To upgrade your information model, complete the following steps:
- Download the ArcGIS Solutions Schema Migration Wizard.
- Unzip the ArcGIS Solution Schema Migration Wizard and place the contents of the ZIP file in the following directory on your computer: <your directory>\SchemaMigrationWizard.
- Double-click ApplySchemaChanges.exe to run the wizard.

- Once complete, click Show Summary to review the summary of changes to include in the new XML workspace document, then select output location for the new XML workspace document.
- Import your new XML workspace document into a new geodatabase in ArcGIS or open it with X-Ray for ArcCatalog to make detailed geodatabase design changes.
