Water Utility Network Editing toolbar

The Water Utility Network Editing and Analysis toolbar is a series of tools to improve a map technician's editing infrastructure data experience.

Water Utility Network Editing Toolbar
Tool Tool Name Description
Select Select Features Select features from selectable layers by clicking them or dragging a box over them.
Clear Clear Selected Features Deselect the currently selected features in all layers.
Edit Edit Tool Select and edit features in an edit session.
Attributes Attributes Open the Attributes window to modify the attribute valves of selected features.
Connect Features Connect Geometric Network Features Connect selected features participating in a geometric network.
Disconnect Features Disconnect Geometric Network Features Disconnect selected features participating in a geometric network.
Validate Features Validate Features Validate the selected geodatabase features for subtypes, attribute domains, geometric network activity rules, relationship rules, and custom rules.
Connection Checker Connection Checker Evaluate the geometric network features in the visible extent to verify
  • All junctions (points) connect to an edge (line).
  • All edges (lines) connect to another edge through a junction or end with a junction.
This tool displays a dialog box showing the number of errors in each class and selects the features requiring connection. You can restrict the connection checker to only visible layers in the configuration file.
Rotate Feature Rotate Selected Junctions Rotate selected point features to match the orientation of a connecting line. You can customize the rotation in the configuration file.
Add Rotation Add Rotation to Features Add a predefined value to the rotation of selected point features. You can customize the rotation in the configuration file.
Split Line Split Lines at Selected Points Split line features where they intersect selected point features. An elevation field can be provided as a parameter. You can set the snap distance, the smallest line to skip, and turn off the Attribute Assistant before the split in the configuration file.
Merge Lines Merge Geometric Network Lines Merge multiple lines from a geometric network line feature class into a single feature. Line feature layers must be selected in the Table of Contents window and contain selected features. Optionally, you can merge field information in the configuration file. This tool is useful when merging upstream and downstream elevation data.
Set Measures Set Measures for Selected Lines Calculate m-values for selected m-enabled lines. Values may be set with or against the digitized direction. The line's length is used to set the measures. Line feature layers must be selected in the Table of Contents window and contain selected features.
Jump Over Create Over Jumps for Selected Lines Create a semicircle jump on selected line features over intersecting lines. You can set the jump distance in the configuration file.
Jump Under Create Under Jumps for Selected Lines Create a semicircle jump on selected line features under intersecting lines. You can set the jump distance in the configuration file.
Layer Viewer Window Layer Viewer Window Opens the Layer Viewer window. This window steps through features in specified layers one at a time. These layers must be present in the map. You can define the layers, map scale, and query in the configuration file.
Add Laterals At Connections Add Laterals at Connections Evaluate selected point features and draw a line (lateral) from each point to the closest feature in the specified line (mains) layer. Additional point features can be placed along the line (lateral). Only point layers defined in the configuration file are evaluated with this tool. To override the defined edit templates, press and hold the CTRL key before pressing this button. To search for the closest selected main, press and hold the SHIFT key before pressing this button.
Add Lateral at Lines Add Laterals from Line Locations Evaluates selected point features (tap points) and draws a line (lateral) from each point perpendicular to the line (main) it intersects. Additional point (clean outs) features can be placed along the line (lateral). The point layer (tap points) requires a field to store the direction of the line (either as clock bearing or compass bearing); a field to store the direction the camera was traveling when recording the point (U for upstream and D for downstream); and a field with the length of the line (lateral) to create. You can define other settings for the points along the field to copy in the configuration file.
Connect points Connect Selected Point to Closest Existing Point Draw a line (main) from each selected point (manhole) to the nearest point (manhole) feature in the same layer. You can define the feature classes in the configuration file. To override the defined templates, press and hold CTRL key. To search for the nearest selected point, press and hold the SHIFT key.
Establish flow direction Establish Flow Direction Establish flow direction for Geometric Network based values of AncillaryRole.
Establish digitized flow direction Establish Digitized Flow Direction Establish flow direction for Geometric Network based on digitized direction.
Show/Hide Arrows Show/Hide Flow Arrows Show or hide flow direction arrows for the first visible geometric network.
Flip Selected Lines Flip Selected Lines Flip the selected lines in the layer highlighted in the Table of Contents window.
Match Selected Lines Direction to Flow Direction Match Selected Lines Direction to Flow Direction Match the direction of the selected line features to the flow direction of the layer highlighted in the Table of Contents window. The layer selected in the Table of Contents window much be a line feature class that participates in the geometric network and have a defined flow direction.
Geometric Network Incremental Loader Incremental Network Loader Open the Geometric Network Incremental Loader to load large numbers of features into an existing geometric network within a given area.
