A series of assets can be abandoned by changing an attribute valve. Features can be moved to the abandon layers manually with the Abandon Features geoprocessing tool or with the Attribute Assistant Add-In.

To retire features with the Abandon Features tool, complete the following steps:

1. Open the Water Geometric Network Editing and Analysis map.
2. If the water network datasets are stored in an enterprise geodatabase, manually start a new editing session.
3. Select features to be retired and run the Abandon Features tool included with the Water Utility Network Editing toolbox.
4. Save your edits and end the editing session.
