Military symbols in ArcGIS Pro are created using a new type of multi-value renderer called a Dictionary Renderer. The renderer creates the military symbol by using a set of rules that draw the components of each symbol. These rules match the values of specific attributes for each feature. The renderer includes a database that defines the rules used to match different values to different symbol components for each of the feature classes in the Military Overlay geodatabase. The renderer also lets you choose which dictionary (or set of rules) to apply, so you can symbolize your data using various military symbology standards, including MIL-STD-2525B change 2, MIL-STD-2525C, or MIL-STD-2525D. The default dictionary is for MIL-STD-2525D. If you change the dictionary you may need to map the dictionary fields to different fields in your feature class.
