Create a cover page

Fire Run Book can be used to create a map book for each station or for the entire district. In large fire districts it may be more manageable to create a fire run book for the response area of each fire station. Units assigned to another station or mutual aid partners can share their fire run books as needed.

The cover page is a PDF document consisting of one page that is the cover of each fire run book. Each fire run book can share the same cover page, or the cover page can be customized for each fire station. A separate map document with a layout has been provided to allow you to configure and export a cover page as part of your fire run book.

To create a cover page for your fire run book, complete the following steps:

  1. Open one of the following Fire Run Book cover map documents:
    • FireRunBookCover_Landscape.mxd for a cover page in landscape orientation
    • FireRunBookCover_Portrait.mxd for a cover page in portrait orientation
  2. Double-click the title in the banner to open the Properties dialog box.
  3. Change the text as desired and click OK.
  4. Double-click the logo to change the graphic symbol as desired and click Save.
  5. Click File > Export Map and set Save as type to PDF.
  6. Name the file and choose an output location, then click Save.

Because this map document contains only a layout with no data layers, a single cover page is produced. The steps for adding this cover page to a fire run book are included in Assemble fire run book.
