Create map pages

Fire Run Book can be used to create a map book for each station or for the entire district. In large fire districts it may be more manageable to create a fire run book for the response area of each fire station. Units assigned to another station or mutual aid partners can share their fire run books as needed.

Configure Data Driven Pages

Fire Run Book uses Data Driven Pages to generate a single map page for each grid in the Fire Map Index feature class.

To configure Data Driven Pages to produce a fire run book, complete the following steps:

  1. In the FireRunBook_Landscape.mxd or FireRunBook_Portrait.mxd click the Data Driven Pages Setup button on the Data Driven Pages toolbar.
  2. Click the Definition tab, do the following:
    1. Check the Enable Data Driven Pages check box.
    2. Set Layer > Fire Map Index.
    3. Set Name Field > Map Sheet Name.
    4. Set Sort Field > Map Sheet Number.
  3. Click the Extent tab, do the following:

Once Data Driven Pages is set up, you can navigate the map book pages by map sheet name or page number.
